The International Education Council represents and monitors the issues that arise out of the U.S. Congress, the U.S. Department of Education and the Administration (Executive Branch) that affect international colleges and universities who have American students, especially those receiving guaranteed student loans.
IEC membership pools resources, providing a cost-effective means of staying on top of changing policies and conditions that affect study abroad. It also provides a way for member-institutions to coordinate approaches to issues and communicate to the government with consistent messages, resulting in advancement of their interests.
- NEWSLETTER
Members will receive an electronic newsletter published at least once a month and archived for members on the Web site. Policy updates and alerts will be sent on an as-needed basis, distributed via e-mail.
- MEETINGS & CONFERENCES
IEC will hold an annual membership meeting to provide an opportunity for members to interact with one another and to learn about the key issues affecting the financing of international education.
- TRAINING
The Department of Education conducts training sessions for administrators involved in implementing U.S. government supported student loan programs. IEC works with the Department to help make sure these sessions are as valuable as possible for IEC members. IEC will also hold additional training events to enhance the information imparted by the Department of Education. These sessions may take place in locations convenient to the membership.
- PUBLIC RELATIONS
One of IEC's goals is to enhance the image of the membership by informing the public of their stories. IEC accomplishes this by issuing press releases about significant events, maintaining a press room on this Web site and providing the education media world with informational materials.
- GRASSROOTS
Campaigns are conducted to inform policy makers and the media as a particular issue arises. Working with IEC, members can be assured that a coordinated, unified message will be sent.
